Baubles, a raffle and a brass band provided the essential elements for Bathgate Silica Sand’s and Arclid Transports’ Christmas charity event this December. The event was organised by staff members to raise money for the Dougie Mac hospice charity in Stoke-on-Trent.
Foden’s Band, who are sponsored by Bathgate, came and played some lovely festive tunes and carols to get everyone in the mood. The team gathered for a chat and a sing-song with mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate to keep the cold away.
Staff were encouraged to buy and dedicate a bauble to a loved one to hang on the memorial tree near the office before the event and to buy raffle tickets on the day. They were able to raise over £200 for the charity while enjoying a lovely heart-warming event with the brass band guaranteed to get everyone feeling Christmassy.
Tonia, the instigator of the event said, “It started off as something small and grew into this special evening get-together that was so lovely as the focus of it was remembering loved ones and doing good for charity – certainly the real meaning of Christmas”
We’ve a feeling this could be the start of a new tradition here at Bathgate.
